GalaxyCore has officially released its high-performance 5-megapixel image sensor GC5605, designed specifically for AI PC applications. Featuring high resolution, high dynamic range, and ultra-low power consumption, the GC5605 enhances image quality in scenarios such as video conferencing and high-definition imaging, while enabling smarter human–computer interactions including intelligent wake-up and gesture control.
GC5605 Specifications
Built on the GalaxyCell® 2.0 process platform with 1.116 μm pixels, the GC5605 delivers superior imaging performance across diverse shooting conditions, particularly in low-light environments. It significantly improves detail rendering and reduces pixel dark current, achieving a higher signal-to-noise ratio than competing products in the same class. With a high resolution of 2888 × 1808, the sensor captures rich detail even under low illumination. The GC5605 supports both DAG single-frame HDR and Staggered HDR, ensuring balanced image quality in backlit, high-contrast, or other complex lighting conditions. This makes it well suited to the stringent clarity and stability requirements of AI PCs.
The sensor also supports an Always-On ultra-low-power mode, consuming as little as 2 mW when performing Human Presence Detection (HPD). This capability enables functions such as smart wake-up, automatic screen lock, and energy-saving control, enhancing device intelligence, responsiveness, and battery life.
With its compact 1/4.7 inch optical size, the GC5605 is easily integrated into slim-bezel laptops. Its native 16:10 aspect ratio is also well-suited for mainstream display formats.
According to forecasts, global shipments of AI PCs are expected to exceed 167 million units by 2027, accounting for nearly 60% of the overall PC market. Combining high performance, low power consumption, and compact design, the GC5605 will empower customers to accelerate product iteration and enhance user experience. The product is scheduled for shipment in Q4 2025.
