Advancing with “Core” Innovation | GalaxyCore Shines at CIIF 2025 as GC50E1 Wins Innovation Award

2025.09.24

The 2025 China International Industry Fair (CIIF) introduced its first-ever Integrated Circuit (IC) Exhibition Area, marking a new highlight of the industry’s annual showcase. GalaxyCore presented a full range of innovations, including high-resolution CMOS image sensors, multispectral imaging technologies, and optical image stabilization (OIS) packaging solutions.

Chairman Zhao Lixin attended the Summit Forum on the Development of the Shanghai IC Industry and delivered a keynote speech. GalaxyCore's 0.7 µm, 50-megapixel image sensor GC50E1 was honored with the inaugural IC Innovation Achievement Award at the expo.

Cutting-Edge Display: Focusing on Imaging Technology

At Booth 5.2 A097 in the IC Exhibition Area, GalaxyCore showcased its latest achievements, including high-resolution image sensors, the company’s first OLED DDIC chip, advanced OIS packaging solutions, and multispectral imaging technologies.

Among them, the Optical Image Stabilization (OIS) Package is a long-travel, wide-angle optical stabilization solution developed based on GalaxyCore’s leading CMOS Image Sensor (CIS) technology. The solution integrates GalaxyCore’s self-developed OIS motor, CMOS image sensor, and proprietary elastic electrical connection technology, achieving wide stabilization angles, strong actuation force, and fast response.

With a highly integrated design, GalaxyCore provides a one-stop OIS solution that significantly lowers barriers to adoption and reduces development complexity. By enhancing stabilization performance, it further optimizes image quality and enables end devices to capture sharper, high-definition images and videos. The product has already been adopted in smart IoT devices, telescopes, and compact cameras.

Summit Forum: Exploring the Future of the IC Industry

GalaxyCore Chairman Zhao Lixin was invited to the Third Shanghai International Summit Forum on IC Industry Development, where he delivered a keynote speech titled From Fabless to Fab-Lite: Transformative Thoughts for Chinese IC Design Companies.

In his address, Zhao reviewed the company’s strategic evolution—from its origins in design to its gradual expansion into wafer manufacturing and packaging & testing. He emphasized that while the transition from “pure design” to “design + manufacturing” is challenging, it is a necessary path toward innovation and sustainable growth.

He noted that building its own wafer fab is not about short-term cost advantages, but about achieving tighter integration between process and design, accelerating innovation, and enabling faster iteration. This innovation-driven strategy empowers GalaxyCore to stand out in a competitive global market while continually optimizing product performance.

Zhao further highlighted that competition in the semiconductor industry is inherently global. Success depends not only on technological breakthroughs but also on seizing market cycles and opportunities. By staying closely aligned with market demands and continuing to invest in high-difficulty fields, GalaxyCore is steadily strengthening its position in the global landscape.

Innovation Leading the Way: GalaxyCore Wins IC Innovation Achievement Award

In the inaugural Integrated Circuit Innovation Achievement Award program, GalaxyCore’s 50-megapixel GC50E1 image sensor was recognized as one of the award-winning products.

The GC50E1 is GalaxyCore’s second-generation non-stack 0.7 µm 50-megapixel CMOS image sensor, built on the GalaxyCell® 2.0 process platform. It delivers remarkable improvements in pixel performance, dynamic range, and power efficiency.

The GalaxyCell® 2.0 platform integrates advanced FPPI®Plus isolation technology to effectively reduce pixel dark current, while backside deep trench isolation (BDTI) enhances the photodiode structure. Compared to its predecessor, the GC50E1 achieves superior image quality across diverse shooting environments—particularly under low-light conditions—with more accurate color reproduction and finer detail.

The selection process, organized by the Shanghai Integrated Circuit Industry Association, involved two rounds of professional evaluation and ultimately recognized 30 outstanding innovations out of 63 submissions.

Continuing the Vision

GalaxyCore will continue to drive innovation in imaging and display technologies, expanding into new application areas and delivering comprehensive imaging solutions. Through its Fab-Lite business model, the company injects new momentum into the semiconductor ecosystem and will join hands with industry partners to shape a brighter future together.
